Founder of beyond body wellness

Hi, I’m Brighton.

I didn’t get into this work because I had everything figured out.

I got into it because my body kept giving me signals I didn’t know how to read.

I grew up as an athlete. I learned how to push, perform, compete, and override discomfort. That mindset served me in a lot of ways, but it also taught me how to disconnect from my body.

For years, I thought tension, pain, stress, and emotional intensity were just part of life.

Old injuries stacked up. Broken bones, dislocations, a shoulder separation, back pain, compensation patterns, gut issues, acne, antibiotics, anxiety, and a nervous system that often felt like it was running the show.

I kept trying to fix one piece at a time.

Fix the pain.
Fix the posture.
Fix the stress.
Fix the gut.
Fix the breathing.
Fix the mindset.

Eventually, I realized the body doesn’t work like that.

It’s all connected.

The way you breathe affects your nervous system.
Your nervous system affects your posture.
Your posture affects your pain.
Your gut affects your mood and energy.
Your stress affects your digestion.
Your emotions affect your body.
Your body affects the way you move through the world.

That realization changed everything for me.

Breathwork Was the Doorway

Breathwork was one of the first practices that showed me how much the body remembers.

It helped me access patterns I had been carrying for years — fear, tension, control, and emotional holding that I didn’t fully understand until I felt it in my body.

One of the biggest moments for me came when I realized how a childhood experience — freezing in fear on a rock climb with my dad — had shaped more than a memory.

It had shaped my breathing.
My body.
My relationship to challenge.
The way I responded under pressure.

Breathwork didn’t just help me “calm down.”

It helped me reconnect to parts of myself I had learned to protect, hide, or override.

That was the beginning of understanding something I now see every day in my work:

Stress isn’t just mental.

It becomes physiology.

And if you want real change, you have to work with the body.

The Physical Layer

Years of sports injuries left my body organized around protection.

At the time, I didn’t think of it that way. I just knew I had pain, tension, and movement limitations that never fully made sense.

The more I studied massage, posture, alignment, joint function, breath mechanics, and movement, the more I realized my body wasn’t broken.

It was adapting.

It had built strategies around old injuries. Some of those strategies helped me keep going. Others eventually became the problem.

That’s a big part of how I work now.

I don’t see the body as something to force into position.

I see it as a system that needs the right inputs, the right support, and enough safety to reorganize.

When the body stops guarding, everything gets lighter.

Movement changes.
Breathing changes.
Pain changes.
Energy changes.
The way you feel inside yourself changes.

The Nervous System Layer

The deeper I went, the more fascinated I became with the nervous system.

Because so much of what people call stress, anxiety, tension, burnout, or overwhelm is not just in the mind.

It’s in the body.

You can’t always think your way out of stress.

Sometimes your system needs a different signal.

That’s where breathwork, somatic practice, regulation, and emotional integration became central for me.

Not as vague “healing work.”

As practical ways to change state.

To help the body feel safe enough to let go.
To build more capacity.
To become less reactive.
To have more range.

More ability to rest.
More ability to feel.
More ability to perform.
More ability to stay present when life gets intense.

That’s what regulation really means to me.

It’s not about being calm all the time.

It’s about being able to meet life without abandoning yourself.

The Internal Health Layer

At a certain point, I also had to look deeper internally.

I had dealt with gut issues, inflammation, skin problems, antibiotics, and health challenges that didn’t fully resolve through mindset, breathwork, or bodywork alone.

That led me into functional health and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition.

Because sometimes the body isn’t stuck because you’re not doing enough.

Sometimes it’s stuck because there are hidden stressors in the system.

Gut dysfunction.
Nutrient depletion.
Inflammation.
Hormonal stress.
Poor recovery.
Toxic burden.
Blood sugar issues.
Lifestyle patterns that slowly wear the body down.

This layer matters.

Your gut is not separate from your nervous system.
Your energy is not separate from your digestion.
Your mood is not separate from your physiology.

Your symptoms are signals.

And when you learn how to listen to them, the body gives you a map.

The Work Today

Over time, all of these pieces came together.

Breath.
Body.
Nervous system.
Functional health.
Somatic work.
Emotional integration.
Performance under pressure.

That became Beyond Body Wellness.

My work is for people who know there’s more available to them, but can feel something in their system holding them back.

Sometimes that looks like anxiety.
Sometimes it looks like pain.
Sometimes it looks like burnout.
Sometimes it looks like digestive issues.
Sometimes it looks like emotional overwhelm.
Sometimes it looks like high performance that comes at too high a cost.

I work with individuals, groups, executives, and teams because the same truth shows up everywhere:

The state of the body shapes the way we think, feel, communicate, lead, recover, and perform.

This isn’t surface-level wellness.

It’s not just information.

It’s experience.

My job is to help people understand their body, regulate their nervous system, restore capacity, and reconnect to the parts of themselves that modern life has trained them to override.

Why I Do This

I do this work because I know what it feels like to be disconnected from your body.

And I know what it feels like to come back.

To breathe more freely.
To move with less pain.
To feel safer inside yourself.
To have more energy.
To trust your body again.
To stop fighting your symptoms and start listening to them.

Beyond Body Wellness was built from the belief that the body is not a problem to fix.

It is an intelligent system asking to be understood.

And when you give it the right support, it can do incredible things.

If you’re ready to begin that process, I’d be honored to walk with you.
